On sait jamais.

So we thought it was the best time to finally book our helicopter flight we have been planning for months. Friends, family had already told us how “beautiful-not dangerous-no you won’t be sick” it was. But I guess we were still a bit worried about how it would go, and of course a lot excited.

So, on a wednesday, we had to wake up at 5am while it was still dark outside, to get to Pierrefonds airport at 6.30am and take our 7am flight. The weather was just perfect, and made the sky so special in this early morning.

We were lucky to sit in the front of the helicopter. The first impression when we got in was weird, because it looked like a roundabout. But then, it took off, we got worried for a few seconds, and finally : WOW. It was amazing.

We saw the 3 cirques (Cilaos, Mafate, Salazie). From above, it looks really different and it is so interesting to see the hilly landscape.

During the flight, the pilot is your guide, telling you stories , geographical facts about Reunion Island. Sometimes, I was checking if he was looking at his way and not crashing us on a mountain. You know… just in case.

We also got into “le Trou de Fer”(kind of a hole where there are casacades), which is one of the most impressive moment of the flight.

And finally, we went to the volcano.

When you see pictures and videos online or on TV, you just imagine that the eruption is from some big red crater. Well, I guess when you are on the ground, it is. But from up in the air, it seemed so small compared to the big main original crater. Don’t get me wrong, it was still very beautiful. The pilot got us close enough (but not too much hehe) to see some red lava erupting from the crater.

We finally flyed over the south coast (St Pierre) with a nice view on the lagoon and landed after about 45 minutes in the air.

15 minutes later we were at work, but with some beautiful images in our head. How high-class it is to get an helicopter flight before going to work ! We would do this everyday if we could.

Thank you Corail Helicopter (you can find all infos on their website) and our friends for this birthday gift to Audrey.
