You can find any type of accomodation in Singapore for a short stay : capsule hotel, luxury resort, youth hostel… We had a hard time choosing between a big hotel or a cozy boutique hotel, and also in which district to stay. But when we found out the Lloyd’s Inn, we knew it was the right place for us.
When you look at the pictures, you either love or hate it. Comments on internet were pretty good : “zen atmosphere”, “peaceful place in the heart of Singapore”, “minimalist design”, with an 8.5/10 on Booking.com. Very promising for an hotel in the city centre of Singapore, for 120 euros per night.
Lloyd’s Inn is located in a quiet and residential area, but at only 10 minutes walk from big shopping centres like Orchard central, Somerset and the subway. Nearby (3 min walk) you can also find a 24 hours restaurant (very useful when you have a pregnant wife !), ATM, cafes and a supermarket. Cabs usually don’t drive around but if you use Grab and Uber apps, it won’t be a problem to get one.
Every room comes with an ensuite outdoor bathroom. Some may not like it, but we loved it ! We were lucky and had a “Skyroom” room (deluxe category). More spacious than the “standard” and “premium” room, we had a shower but also an outdoor bathtub, opening up to the sky. Very nice.
The king size bed is so comfy that you may find it hard to wake up.
Facilities and services
No breakfast at the hotel, but you can enjoy a drink (vending machine available) at an open air place with some tables and chairs. You also get a coupon to take your local breakfast at a cafe nearby.
If you arrive before the check-in time and your room is not ready, you can still have a shower, which is very pleasant after a long trip !
Finally, the hotel provides you a mobile phone for free during your stay, very useful !
Our general opinion
We liked :
-the location : so close to the shopping centres, and yet very peaceful !
-the unique and minimalist design of the room
We did not like :
-the bad soundproofing of the room. If you are sensitive to noises and want to stay late in bed, take some wax ear plugs.
We had a really great stay and want to thank the staff and Kelvin the manager.
