More than a year ago, we were looking for a destination for a one week vacation, somewhere not far from here but still a place where we could experience new things. We decided to go to Cape Town and we did not expect to find all these nice places, especially for food.

But obviously if you are a vegetarian, this list of restaurants will not suits you. In Cape Town, meat is sooooo delicious. David often says – with a dreamy smile – “I could cut my meat with my fork”…

For good meat :
NV-80 : in Sea point, this hype restaurant serves the softest meat we had in Cape Town. And yeah, “I could cut it with my fork”. Nice place to get a drink also.

Hussard grill : You’d better make a reservation, even during week day. Our airbnb landlord suggested this place when we asked for a good restaurant, and we now see why !

Local grill : It’s more like a family style cantine; lots of tables, space, kids menu etc… meat was really good ! We also had a kitchen tour ! They showed us how they cook the meat, and also have cooking class.

For nice hotdogs :
Gourmet boerie : In South Africa, they have a special sausage called boerewors. In this place, they do hotdogs with it and have multiple other flavors too. Really good for a simple meal !

For a nice breakfast:
Giovanni’s deliworld : Near our airbnb apartment, there was this deli where you can buy groceries but also have breakfast or lunch with tasty sandwiches and good coffee. If you want to feel the Cape Town vibe, go there, locals like this place.

Empire café : On your way to Good hope Cape, be sure to make a stop at Empire cafe, in Muizenberg. From the cafe, you can take a look at the beach.

The sidewalk café : Cute and peaceful place with a nice view of table mountain, breakfast is served from 8am to 2pm.

For good burgers:
Gibson’s : Huge and generous burger, in V&A Waterfront shopping mall.

For a fancy meal:
Delaire Graff Estate : On your way to the wine route, you can stop to Delaire Graff Estate in Stellenbosch. We are definitely not wine experts but this place is so amazing. The garden, the wineyard, the restaurant are so beautiful. And then for lunch, the dishes are so delicate, well balanced and delicious. They also offer spa services. It’s of course a bit pricey, but still affordable for us compared to what we have here.

Two Oceans : At Cape point, this restaurant offers a really nice view but also very good seafood.

Best food market ever :
The Neighbourgoods market was absolutely amazing. Every Saturdays from 9am to 2pm, you can find there multiple food stalls with delicious and different meals, drinks, desserts. Everyone can find something to eat or drink there. The place was crowded, but for us, it’s a must-try !

We could have added more restaurants in this list because Cape Town was really a wonderful destination for food. Beautiful landscapes AND good restaurants everywhere, I think we will visit Cape Town again soon !
